I didn’t feel like doing anything at all today but being lazy.
All I have done all day is laying down, taking a bath and playing golf.
All I have eaten is take-out chicken.
Sometimes being a lazybone feels good, getting away from everything complicated in life.

Actually those are not the only books I’ve collected, some of them have lost and my mom would throw some away when I was young, in order to make me concentrate only on studying instead of reading books.

“Oh, how are you?” he asked.

Then she said “You guys are chicken.”

He was very puzzled, frowned, and said “huh?”

In Korea, in fact, if you tell a couple they are like “chicken skin,” it means “you are very lovvie dovvie.”

She thought that in English, saying that would mean the same thing as “You’re so lovvie dovvie.”

After I explained to him what she meant to say, he solved the misunderstanding and my sister’s face turned red.

The blazing sun is out of sight, only rain washes everything on the street.

Regular drops of rain calm me down and make me a bit sleepy.

On lunchtime, I went to a bakery to be away from work for a while, although I already had lunch at home. I picked up a pack of bread and ordered a cup of milk tea and. Sitting down, I stretched and looked out the window and watched the people walking in the rain.

After a while, a big, bulky, black woman came in, picked things up, and walked right off, humming to herself.

“Oh wow,” I thought, “Why on earth would she come to this place? I never thought there would be any Americans around here.”

All of a sudden I felt like talking to her and thought, “I miss America and being around Americans.”

Having stayed in the States before, I used to think that my home is only Korea and taht America is just a place to visit for a few years, though. But now I’m missing the States a lot, like it was my own home. It’s so odd that Jordan in teh States misses Korea so much right now that he goes to Korean restaraunts to feel that he’s in Korea, whereas I miss the states in the same way.

In recent years, thought, thoughts on the car seem to have changed.

Take Jordan, for example, who used to only think of buying Japanese cars to drive.

Even thought he was only considering Japanese brands like Mazda or Honda, suddenly he mentioned, “Honey, how about a Genesis Coupe?”

It was really sudden to hear that from Jordan because he only liked Japanese, American, or German cars.

“Are you sure that you want a Hyundai car honey?” I asked.

Then he said, “Of course, I asked whether to get a Hyundai or Mazda on Facebook, and all of my friends commented “You’d better get a Hyundai.” I guess it’s an awesome car to people then.

Then I said, “Why not a Hyundai then, let’s get it.”

After a month, we went to the Hyundai dealer and took a careful look at it. We were really surprised by how nice it looked and said at the same time, “It’s so cool baby!”

What’s funny is that the salesman that sold us the car was really eager to sell it to us since he was selling a Korean car from America to someone in Korea. It’s kinda funny if you think about it.

Right after we got in the car, he kept saying in admiration, “I’ve got the best car in the world. We can even talk on the phone hands-free. He pressed a button and said, “Call home,” to the car, and the car dialed his house. A voice came out of the car’s speakers. It was his mom.

We said together, “Mom this is so cool.”

“What’s that?” she asked.

“We’re talking to you hands free, just using the car speakers.”

On another occasion, while we were paused at a traffic light, an old man in a really fancy convertible yelled at us “You guys have a beautiful car,” and gave us a thumbs up.

See, it’s not that bad to have a Korean car anymore.

Gosh I can see that i’ve been too tan. Consequently some Koreans see me as a foreigner such as a Hawiian b/c of my tanned skin

Even though I don’t believe in Buddhism, today I’d like to enjoy this holiday, called the Day of Budda’s coming, which is one of official holidays here, in Korea.

I woke up relieved from the anxiety of having to go to work. Wow, It’s still Friday and I don’t have to go to work today. Let’s enjoy this holiday that doesn’t come that often.

By the way, How am I supposed to spend a day-off?
From now on, I’m completely supposed to spend all days-off alone without Jordan.
Yes, unfortunately we are in long distance relationship. I realized it again that I should be alone on holidays and weekends for a year. Oh, shit this is even harder than I thought it’d be at the first moment.
Though it would’ve been better to be with him if I were able to. If not, anyway. Let’s just be positive.
Come to think of it, I have my family, which is the reason why I decided to stay here for a little while longer. I turned my head back towards my mom and said “ Mom, Do you want to hang out with me? In a park around our home?” “ Why not?” she answered as if she were waiting to be asked to go out.

Crossing the city’s forest of buildings in 20 minutes, we reached the Yeoido park, which is the second biggest park in Seoul. Actually, it was the first time I’ve walked with my mom by ourselves in my whole life, 25 years.
We were not the type of mom and daughter who talk a lot to each other before.
Lately, However, As I’m getting older, I feel understanding of my mom and she also seems to feel that.
way about me.

We took a long walk together, enjoying the early summer breeze from the Han river, talking about everything happening in recent months. Just like best friends would.
We mostly talked about Jordan, his family, things such as what kind of thing mother in law liked and what I did back in Jordan’s home. She seems to enjoy hearing about these different life style of my American family.

After taking a walk done in the park, we headed for the big square to do inline skating.
Since the last time I gave it up soon after I bought a pair of inline skates, it’s been around 10 years.
I wasn’t sure if I would do well, despite the fact that I was a beginner. I could hold my feet in them well, and managed not to fall off, waddling here and there.

Whoa, this is so much fun and I’m getting better! See, I can do well, I thought.
Then I fell with a bump that turend many heads towards me.
‘Yes, I did fall off, so why you guys giggling at me?’ said to myself.
Then, a kid flies in the skates, as if to say ‘ Look at me, hey dummy’

I hate this feeling being stupid, learning new things, haha.
Soon, I got used to managing it and could even straightly fly(wanna say that I ‘almost’ flew.)

Finally, after I made two circles of the square, I’m able to say “ I can ride inline-skate quite well.”
Tons of sweat was all over my body.

From next week? It’s golf.
I’m taking a golf lesson in place near my home, and am going to play it every morning.
I should be busy doing as many things as I can in order not to be bored and lonely.
